The Sudan Literature Centre (SLC) was established in 1988 as a department of Across. The major goal of the SLC is::
To assist the Sudanese Evangelical Churches
in their evangelism and growth through the production and supply of Christian
Literature.
The project works in partnership with different Sudanese Churches, the main
partners are: the Episcopal Church of Sudan (ECS), the Sudan Pentecostal
Churches (SPC), the Presbyterian Church of Sudan (PCOS), the Africa Inland
Church (AIC), the Sudanese Church of Christ (SCOC), the Sudan Interior Church
(SIC).
Since it's formation in 1988, the SLC has attempted to make a contribution by providing various Church or Christian literature to the growing Churches in Sudan. Conducting workshops has been one of the major ways of training new writers/ translators and obtaining new manuscripts for use in the Sudanese Churches. So far we have produced over 300 Christian or Church related titles.
The Church materials produced by the center are in over 25 different Sudanese languages. The Church titles produced range from hymnals, prayer books, catechisms, and Sunday school materials, tracts and other Christian books.
SLC aim and hope is to discover the
potentials of the deprived Sudanese people and build their capacities in
writing, editing and translating of church materials, which could be used
in the Christian ministry in the Sudan and among the Sudanese communities
in exile.
