YTTC was established by ACROSS in 2002 to address the issue of shortage of teachers for basic education in South Sudan. The goal is” to improve the quality of education for the church and the community as a whole”.
The college offers two main academic programmes – pre – service teacher training course and in-service teacher training course following the curricula of Kyambogo University Uganda and Ministry of Education Science and Technology of South Sudan.
It also offers a range of other courses including Head teachers Courses, Supervisors and inspectors Courses, PTA and SMC Training Courses, Inclusive Education Courses, Fast Track Courses, Intensive English Course, Vernacular (Bari Language) Courses and Computer Courses
Cross Cutting Issues form part of the college curricula and they include: Peace education, Gender and girl child education, Micro enterprise development, Agro business/peace economy, HIV/AIDS, Psychosocial Education, Human/children’s rights, Environment and community health, Democracy and good governance, Discipleship
We provide various activities aimed at bringing positive change in the lives of the people we serve both at the college and in the community; these include: Worship and bible teaching, Daily Devotion, Evening fellowship, Scripture Union Clubs, Scripture Union conferences, Week of spiritual emphasis, Bible studies, Religious Studies, Guidance and Rehabilitation, Mentoring and coaching, Team work and sports as well as leading by example. The impact of this is huge. Many young men and women have graduated with high level of skills and competencies from our college. The result of this has begun to be felt in schools and the community. Performance in schools has continued to improve over the years as a result of the direct work of the teachers, managers and community leaders trained by the college.
