
The Nairobi Office is the International Headquarter of Across. It is in the capital of Kenya in East Africa, offering logistics and administrative support to the Across locations in South Sudan.
The Nairobi Location comprises of the office of Executive Director, Programme Director, HR, Finance, Logistics and Institutional Development. The Finance office oversees the accounting of donor funds.
People Groups & Religion
- About 65% of Kenyans speak Bantu language-being Kikuyu, Luhyia, Kamba, Meru, Embu & Mijikenda.
- 30% are Nilotic-being Luo, Kalenjin, Maasai, Turkana & Samburu
- 3% Cushitic family mostly composed of the Somalis
- 2% are mainly speakers of European or Indian languages.
Nairobi is a greatly multilingual/ethnic/racial society. English and Swahili are most widely used languages. Swahili is the national language, but official correspondence is mostly conducted in English.
Christianity is the dominant religion, with large Muslim and Hindu communities.
Partnerships
The Nairobi office enables easy communication and information flow to donors and other agencies that have their offices in Nairobi. Before the comprehensive peace agreement, most donor meetings and activity coordination meetings for the whole of southern Sudan took place in Nairobi. However, most of the meetings now are held in Juba.
